Sudanese National Charged With Murder Of Three Men In Texas

HOUSTON, TX - On Wednesday, Ahmedal Tayeb Elnouman Modawi, 17, appeared in court for the first time since his arrest for the deaths of three young men.

On Friday night, Modawi, who works as a valet at Cafe Mawal in the 6000 block of Fairdale Lane, was behind the wheel of a customer’s car, when a police officer spotted him doing donuts in a nearby parking lot.

In a news release, the Houston Police Department stated:

An HPD sergeant observed a white Infiniti engaging in reckless driving in a parking lot and activated his patrol vehicle’s emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop. Modawi, the driver of the Infiniti, evaded and drove at a high rate of speed on Fairdale Lane, where he struck three pedestrians. The Infiniti then flipped and struck a fixed object.

The three pedestrians have since been identified as 18-year-old Fnan Measho, 22-year-old Eric Orduna and 23-year-old Nick Rodriguez.

All three who worked as valets at Prospect Sports Bar, were pronounced dead on the scene.

Modawi was travelling at 60 mph when he hit the three men, according to court documents.

Modawi has been charged with three counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. He is currently being held at the Harris County Jail on $350,000 bond.

*If he makes bail, he has been ordered to surrender his passport, as he is not a U.S. citizen.

Modawi came to this country with his family, five years ago, from Sudan.
