MANASSAS, VA - On Monday, officers with the Prince William County Police Department arrested Walner Alberto Pichinte Echeverria, 35, following a fatal hit-and-run on May 6. The victim, 62-year-old Alberto Anthony Marino, had already been hit by another car and was lying in the road when a Nissan Xterra, reportedly driven by Echeverria ran over him, without stopping.
A few minutes after running over Marino, surveillance footage captures Echeverria pulling into a gas station, and calmly pumping gas, before heading off to work, according to court documents.
Emergency personnel arrived at the grisly scene on Sudley Road around 5 a.m. Marino was taken to a local hospital, where he died.
Investigators are still looking for the driver of the first car that hit Marino, described as a "late model, silver Toyota Corolla."
The Patch reported:
"The Corolla is likely to have damage to the passenger side of the front bumper and missing the passenger side mirror."
Anyone with information about the fatal hit-and-run is urged to contact the Prince William County Police Department at 703-792-7000.
Echeverria has been charged with felony hit-and-run, and is currently being held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center on an ICE Hold.
