PORTLAND, OR – On January 5, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents handed over Abel Rojas-Hernandez, 57, to Mexican officials following his release from an Oregon state prison.
In a press release, ICE stated:
On Feb. 8, 2012, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers encountered Rojas-Hernandez at the Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) and lodged an immigration detainer with the jail.
In 1996, Rojas-Hernandez was convicted of attempted murder of a Salem man, and sentenced to 25 years in prison.
At the time of his arrest, the illegal alien also had several prior convictions for other crimes.
Rojas-Hernandez was flown to Mexico on an ICE Air Operations charter flight.
