ASHEVILLE, NC - On September 18, the Asheville Police Department asked for the public's help in locating Roberto Carlos Guzman-Serrano, 27, who is wanted for sexually assaulting two children.
APD posted the following information on Twitter:
Asheville police say on July 3, 2020, they received a report of a sexual assault committed against two juvenile victims by an adult male family member. Detectives assigned to the Buncombe County Family Justice Center (FJC) immediately began an investigation, which included coordinated efforts with partners at Mission Children's Hospital.
Guzman-Serrano has been charged with second-degree forcible rape, first-degree statutory rape and indecent liberties with a minor. He remains at-large at this time.
If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Guzman-Serrano, they are urged to contact the Asheville Police Department at 828-252-1110.
*Upon taking office in 2019, Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller announced that his office would no longer cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and would stop honoring ICE detainers in his county's jail. The policy immediately transformed Buncombe County into a 'sanctuary' for criminal aliens, and has been met with harsh criticism from federal authorities, as Sheriff Miller has even allowed illegal aliens charged with child sex crimes to go free on bail.
