BOWLING GREEN, KY – On Tuesday, police arrested Gustavo Adolfo Carias-Salas, 21, after he reportedly raped a woman at a Halloween party, a little over two weeks earlier.
At some point during the party, the victim became heavily intoxicated and passed out. When she awoke the next morning, she was naked from the waist down, according to court documents.

The woman’s friend told investigators she saw the victim passed out on the bed without clothing on and heard the suspect unbuckling his pants at some point, according to the citation.
The woman confronted Carias-Salas about the alleged rape to which he apologized and asked her not to call the police, according to his citation.
Under questioning, Carias-Salas admitted to that he had intercourse with the victim, but claims the sex was consensual.
Carias-Salas has been charged with first-degree rape on victim incapable of consent/physically helpless and first-degree sodomy on victim incapable of consent/physically helpless.
*Incredibly, despite the suspect's illegal status, he was allowed to simply walk out of the Warren County Jail two days later, after posting $25,000 bail.
His next court appearance is scheduled for November 25.
While Bowling Green is not officially a 'sanctuary city,' it is common knowledge that local law enforcement is encouraged to look the other way, when it comes to a suspect's immigration status. As such, most jurisdictions never bother to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
For example, the Louisville City Council passed a resolution banning the city's police from cooperating with ICE, in order to make “undocumented immigrants and refugees feel more comfortable."
