NEW PHILADELPHIA, OH - On March 19, Dionicio Baten-Sica, of 223 St. Clair St., was formally arraigned in a Tuscarawas County courtroom, after he reportedly raped a 12-year-old girl inside his apartment.
He was charged with first-degree rape and ordered held on $100,000, by Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Judge Elizabeth Lehigh Thomakos.
Baten-Sica claimed the inability to afford an attorney, and was granted one by the court.
Despite qualifying for taxpayer-funded legal defense, the defendant was apparently able to come up with $10,000 (10 percent of his bond), and was released from custody on April 1, 2020.
Baten-Sica's next court appearance is scheduled for September 14.
