GATES, NY – On April 22, Gates Police Chief James VanBrederode announced the arrest of Edgar Tolentino, 16, for the shooting death of 71-year-old Richard Sciascia.
The grandfather who was on his way to visit his son, when he became the victim of an attempted carjacking on April 7.
Sciascia was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital where he was soon pronounced dead. He leaves behind a wife, seven children and eight grandchildren.
Tolentino has been charged with second-degree murder and is currently being held at the Monroe County Secure Juvenile Detention Center.
Police are also searching for another suspect at this time.
