POMPANO BEACH, FL – In the early morning hours of November 27, a woman regained consciousness, after a harrowing night of torture at the hands of her ex-boyfriend. The man, Roberto Alves De Lira, 45, reportedly broke into her home on Thanksgiving, according to police.
She was reportedly held against her will, beaten and choked during the ordeal. When she awoke, De Lira, a Jiu-Jitsu fighter, from Brazil, was finally gone, but the worst was yet to come...
As she looked around her home, she discovered the lifeless body of her 51-year-old roommate, Nadir Verissimo, she had been choked to death.
The Daily Mail reported:
One of Verissimo's friends, Osedene Oliveira Costa, has since created a GoFundMe page to help pay for her funeral arrangements.
On the page Osdence wrote: 'Nadir was taken from us in unimaginable way and far too soon. She will be missed as we are all heartbroken.
Nadir was not only a friend but I considered her a sister as well. We lived, laughed and played together.
De Lira has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, burglary with battery, and false imprisonment. He is currently being held at the Broward County Main Jail on an ICE detainer.
