NEW YORK CITY, NY – On Friday, Cuauhtemoc Cardenas, 32, was formally arraigned on several charges stemming from an attack on a jogging trail in Queens’ Forrest Park. The victim, a 51-year-old woman, was dragged into the woods, beaten, choked and raped, according to court documents.
The accused reportedly wrapped a cloth of some type around the woman's neck, strangling her. A passerby heard her screams and as he approached, the illegal alien reportedly fled.
He was arrested two days later.
The New York Post reported:
Before sunset on a Saturday, the victim, was on a walk along the park’s Orange Trail when Cardenas allegedly tapped her on the shoulder and hit her in the face, officials said.
The surprise blow knocked her to the ground, and Cardenas allegedly dragged her into the bushes, pulled down her pants and raped her.
Cardenas has been charged with first-degree rape, sexual abuse, assault and obstruction of breathing.
If convicted, he faces up to 25 years behind bars.
