Illegal Alien Charged With Breaking Into Home, Terrorizing Woman And Her Children

ZION, IL – On Thursday, police responded to a break-in, in progress, at a residence in the 12700 block of West 28th Street. When officers arrived, they discovered Jose Herrera, 23, inside the home, the front door had been kicked-in.

They also discovered a woman and her five children hiding in a locked bedroom, according to court documents.

Lake & McHenry County Scanner reported:

Herrera repeatedly yelled, “Where is she at?” while he was inside the home, Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Covelli said, adding that Herrera did not know anyone inside the victims’ residence.

As for what the illegal alien's intentions were at the time, police have yet to release a motive. However, no attempt to take anything was made, and it was obvious the suspect knew the woman was inside the home with her children.

Herrera has been charged with two counts of felony criminal trespass, criminal damage, assault and disorderly conduct. He is currently being held at the Lake County Jail on $50,000 bond.
