RALEIGH, NC - On Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies arrested Miguel Antonio Cazares, 21, following a months-long investigation.
In March, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that images depicting child sexual assault were displayed on one of Cazares’ social media accounts.
WAVY reported:
“As the investigation continued, deputies were notified that Cazares told a medical provider that he had admitted to sexually abusing a juvenile, known to the family,” sheriff’s office spokesman Eric Curry said in a release.
Then, in June a young girl and her sister confided in an adult that Cazares had sexually abused both of them.
Cazares has been charged with three counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, three counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, four counts of disseminating harmful material to minors, and statutory sex offense with a child by an adult. He is currently being held at the Wake County Jail on $1.9 million bond.
Under questioning, Cazares admitted to sexually assaulting both children.
*Since taking office on December 3, 2018, Wake County Sheriff Gerald M. Baker has refused to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and has released many dangerous criminals back into his county, despite requests from ICE to hold them.
