YUMA, AZ - On Tuesday, U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested Miguel Vargas Mendoza, 33, after he crossed into this country illegally.

Upon processing, it was discovered that Mendoza is a previously convicted felon, who was deported in 2013.

In a news release, the U.S. Border Patrol Yuma Sector stated:

Record checks conducted on Miguel Vargas Mendoza, a 33-year-old Mexican national, revealed he was convicted of possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of marijuana for sale, sex with a minor three years or younger, and willful cruelty to a child in California in 2012. He was sentenced to a total of 365 days in jail.

Mendoza is now facing a charge of felony re-entry after deportation, and if convicted, could receive up to 20 years in federal prison.
