DOUGLAS, AZ - Last week, U.S. Border Patrol agents working out of the Douglas Station apprehended Saul Garcia-Ibarra, 26, after he was observed crossing into this country illegally.
During processing, it was discovered that the illegal alien was a previously deported felon.
In a news release, the U.S. Border Patrol, Tucson Sector stated:
Records revealed the Mexican citizen was convicted of rape, a 1st degree felony, in Salt Lake County, UT.
Garcia-Ibarra was convicted of First-Degree Rape on May 13, 2016, and released from custody on August 26, 2016, and subsequently deported back to Mexico, according to the Utah Department of Corrections.
He is facing a charge of felony re-entry after deportation, and if convicted, could receive up to 20 years in federal prison.
