BRENTWOOD, NY - On April 14, Suffolk County Police arrested Valerie Owusu, 26, after a lengthy investigation that determined her 5-year-old son, King Owusu, died from severe internal injuries.
In short, the boy was beaten to death by his mother and her boyfriend, Emmanuel Addae, according to police.
On April 1, 2021, was found unresponsive inside an apartment on Leroy Avenue.
CBS New York reported:
The abuse was discovered at the Brentwood apartment of Addae's parents, where the 911 call was made.
An ambulance brought the boy from Brentwood to South Shore University Hospital, but internal injuries were so grave that doctors were unable to save the child's life.
Delay in the arrests was to prove the abuse took place in New York and not Ghana.
An autopsy determined that King died from blunt force trauma over his entire body.
Both Valerie Owusu and Emmanuel Addae have been charged with second-degree murder, and are currently being held at the Suffolk County Correctional Center without bail.
